| | How come we can call New Jersey "Jersey" for short but we can't call New York, New Hampshire, or New Mexico just "York," "Hampshire," or "Mexico" for short? You know what I mean? Like no one says, "I'm from Hampshire" or "I'm going to York." People always say, "I'm from NEW Hampshire" or "I'm going to NEW York." But we New Jerseyans CAN say, "I'm from Jersey." Just an observation. (I understand the Mexico one... that would be confusing if someone said "I'm from Mexico" but meant New Mexico.) |
